almost vs almost all vs most

almost 

almost는 부사 이고 nealy와 비슷한 의미 (거의) 를 가지고 있습니다. 

예) I almost failed the exam. (but I didn't fail)

예) He almost died. (but he didn't die)

예) She's almost twenty years old. (she'll be 20 next month)

almost all

가끔 사람들이 almost all을 헷갈려 하는데

사실 almost all은 그냥 단순히 almost (nearly) + all 의 의미입니다. 

예)

I know almost everyone here. 라고 하는 것은 

I know almost all the people here. (nearly all the people) 와 같습니다. 

예)

Almost everything was destroyed. 라고 하는 것은

Almost all of the town was destroyed. (nearly all of the town) 와 같습니다. 

most 

most 는 형용사 또는 대명사이고 majority와 비슷한 의미를 가지고 있습니다. 

most가 형용사로 쓰일 때 (대부분의)

예) Most cars have four doors.

예) Most people would like to be rich.

most가 대명사 쓰일 때 (대다수)

예) Most of my friends can speak English.

예) Some people like to make trouble, but most just want a quiet life.

와 같이 활용됩니다.
